Electric Vehicles and Canadian Auto Industry Policy is a policy-focused, experiential workshop that invites students to examine how public policy, innovation, and industry transformation can accelerate Canada’s transition to sustainable transportation.

Through guided analysis and collaborative problem-solving, participants explore how governments, businesses, and communities can work together to support the electrification of transportation systems while protecting workers and strengthening domestic supply chains. Students are challenged to balance environmental objectives with economic resilience and social equity.

Led by an industry expert, the session encourages students to craft coherent, evidence-informed policy frameworks that promote responsible mobility, climate action, and inclusive economic growth. Teams develop and present proposals addressing infrastructure, regulation, workforce development, and market incentives.

The workshop culminates in a competitive team challenge, with one team receiving a cash prize and an equivalent donation made to a charitable organization in their name, reinforcing civic responsibility and collective impact.

This activity supports SDG Month Canada by advancing Climate Action (SDG 13), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), while building policy literacy and leadership capacity among youth.
