DESCRIPTION:How might a black bear experience the CapU campus?  \nA bear’s sense of smell is roughly 2\,100 times more acute than ours — where we see a green campus edging into forest\, a bear reads a dense\, layered archive of scent: fruiting shrubs\, the pull of the nearby Lynn creek\, the memory of seasons past. In a continuation of our work on International Bear Day\, we invite you to let that perspective stretch your ecological imagination.  \nStep into the CapU forest and experiment with watercolour as a way of attuning to what you might otherwise miss — the damp layering of the ravine\, the textures and shadows that a more-than-human world is always composing around us. What might it feel like to know this forest the way a bear does?

DESCRIPTION:This outdoor workshop invites participants to explore and process complex emotions related to climate change. Through guided nature-based practices\, we will create space to identify\, name\, and sit with the full range of feelings that arise when witnessing environmental change—from grief and overwhelm to gratitude and inspiration. Grounded in therapeutic principles\, this reflective and educational experience offers permission to feel\, to be witnessed\, and to cultivate a deeper understanding of how climate emotions show up in our bodies\, minds\, and relationships. While facilitated by a registered clinical counsellor\, this workshop is designed to support personal exploration and learning in a group setting rather than serve as a therapy session.\nThis workshop is led by Emily Potts\, a Registered Clinical Counsellor\, with experience in climate science\, outdoor guiding\, and group facilitation. This workshop is not a therapy session and provides a space for learning and personal exploration in a group setting.

DESCRIPTION:Designing a More Sustainable Future is a three-day\, credit-bearing Innovation Sprint that engages undergraduate students from across faculties in designing prevention-oriented\, regenerative solutions to sustainability challenges. \n\n\n\nFocused on SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production\, the Sprint invites students to explore how products and services can be designed from the outset to prevent waste and pollution\, while creating long-term environmental\, social\, and economic value. Participants apply systems thinking and circular design principles to rethink production and consumption models. \n\n\n\nWorking in interdisciplinary teams\, students conduct research\, co-design strategies\, and develop evidence-informed prototypes under time constraints. The intensive format strengthens problem-solving\, collaboration\, and leadership skills while grounding learning in real-world contexts. \n\n\n\nStudents who successfully complete the Sprint earn 1.5 academic credits and contribute to applied sustainability initiatives that address pressing global challenges.
