SUMMARY:Transformative Pedagogies for Climate Education
DESCRIPTION:This virtual panel will bring together educators and practitioners to explore how teaching and learning can respond meaningfully to the contemporary climate crisis. Panelists will discuss transformative pedagogies that move beyond information transmission to foster critical thinking\, compassion\, agency\, and action. Through examples from practice and research\, the conversation will examine how climate education can create transformative learning pathways and empower learners to navigate uncertainty\, engage with complex systems\, and contribute to just and` sustainable futures. Dr. Michèle Martin\, Program Specialist\, Waterloo Climate Institute\, will moderate this panel. This session will be offered with French translation and will be recorded.Following the virtual panel\, we will host an in-person\, hands-on Climate Curriculum Clinic at the Centre for Interactive Research in Sustainability (CIRS) on the UBC Vancouver campus. Participants will receive guidance from faculty and curriculum developers as they explore practical ways to integrate climate content\, assignments\, pedagogies\, and community-engaged experiential projects into their teaching.

SUMMARY:SDG Action Bingo
DESCRIPTION:Thompson Rivers University is turning global goals into local action with SDG Action Bingo\, a free\, month-long initiative that invites TRU students\, employees and members of the Kamloops community to take part all over the campus and the city. Participants download or pick up a 6”x6” bingo card featuring 36 squares. There are two squares for each of the 17 SDGs\, plus two Free squares. \n\n\n\n\n Attend a campus or community activity or event connected to an SDG\, or choose from a list of everyday actions\, or create your own — and link it to one the 17 SDGs that fits best.\n\n\n\nMark one square per attended activity/event or completed action.\n\n\n\nGet six in a row — horizontal\, vertical or diagonal — and you have a bingo!\n\n\n\n\nEach confirmed bingo is entered into a grand prize draw valued at $1\,000 (one each for a TRU student\, TRU employee\, and member of the community).
