SUMMARY:Capilano River Regional Park - Forest Resiliency Project 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join EarthWorks-CapU and Metro Vancouver Regional Parks for a hands-on forest restoration event in Capilano River Regional Park. Working alongside Regional Parks staff\, participants will help construct a cedar split-rail fence along unsanctioned trails in an area impacted by hemlock looper moth outbreak and off-trail activity. By redirecting foot traffic\, this fencing will protect degraded understory habitat and prepare the site for future native planting.\nPlease note this is a physically active event — participants should be comfortable carrying 10-foot cedar beams (approximately 15 lbs) and using hammers. All tools and materials will be provided. We will meet at the Cleveland Dam parking lot and hike approximately 15 minutes to the work site.

SUMMARY:WMN Thrift for Impact: Sustainable Fashion and Community Support
DESCRIPTION:WMN Thrift for Impact is a community-driven\, pay-what-you-can thrift initiative organized by the Women in Management Network (WMN) that promotes sustainable consumption while supporting local social services. \nThrough the resale and redistribution of gently used professional clothing and accessories\, the event encourages students\, faculty\, and staff to adopt more responsible fashion practices and extend the life cycle of garments. By reducing textile waste and promoting reuse\, the initiative addresses the environmental impacts of fast fashion and overconsumption. \nAll proceeds from the event are donated to St. Joe’s Women’s Centre\, supporting women and families in the community and reinforcing the connection between sustainability\, social equity\, and economic inclusion. \nBeyond environmental benefits\, the initiative fosters solidarity\, accessibility\, and community engagement by lowering barriers to professional attire and creating opportunities for mutual support. \nThis activity supports SDG Month Canada by advancing Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)\, Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10)\, Gender Equality (SDG 5)\, and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)\, while strengthening student leadership and civic responsibility.
