The Electrici-T Challenge, organized by the Financial Research and Learning Lab, is an applied learning competition that engages students in analyzing Canada’s electricity sector through data-driven sustainability assessment.

Using professional financial and energy datasets, participants build interactive dashboards to evaluate major utility companies while integrating key performance indicators such as emissions intensity, renewable energy generation, and ESG performance. The challenge strengthens students’ technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

Through hands-on data exploration and collaborative problem-solving, students gain practical insight into how energy systems, public policy, and corporate strategy intersect in the transition to low-carbon economies. The activity promotes evidence-based decision-making and responsible investment perspectives.
