WMN Thrift for Impact: Sustainable Fashion and Community Support
March 4 @ 9:30 am – 3:00 pm EST

WMN Thrift for Impact is a community-driven, pay-what-you-can thrift initiative organized by the Women in Management Network (WMN) that promotes sustainable consumption while supporting local social services.
Through the resale and redistribution of gently used professional clothing and accessories, the event encourages students, faculty, and staff to adopt more responsible fashion practices and extend the life cycle of garments. By reducing textile waste and promoting reuse, the initiative addresses the environmental impacts of fast fashion and overconsumption.
All proceeds from the event are donated to St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, supporting women and families in the community and reinforcing the connection between sustainability, social equity, and economic inclusion.
Beyond environmental benefits, the initiative fosters solidarity, accessibility, and community engagement by lowering barriers to professional attire and creating opportunities for mutual support.
This activity supports SDG Month Canada by advancing Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), while strengthening student leadership and civic responsibility.
