Zero Waste Campus Tour

March 19 @ 10:30 am 11:30 am EDT

The Zero Waste Campus Tour is an experiential, place-based learning activity led by the Office of Campus Sustainability that invites students to explore how sustainability is embedded into everyday operations at the University of Ottawa.

Through a guided walking tour, participants learn about waste management systems, recycling and composting infrastructure, sustainable procurement practices, and campus initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact. The tour highlights how institutional policies and operational choices contribute to waste reduction and climate action.

By connecting sustainability concepts to real campus spaces and practices, the activity strengthens environmental literacy and encourages students to adopt more responsible behaviours in their academic and personal lives.

The Zero Waste Campus Tour fosters awareness, accountability, and civic responsibility, empowering students to become active contributors to a more sustainable campus community.

This activity supports SDG Month Canada by advancing Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), while promoting systems thinking and environmental stewardship.
